Custom/Hybrid carbon reinforcement

need to do a little strengthening on the engine bay on my ski, very minimal all while adding alittle visual clean up. what the best weight/ oz carbon to use . i was gonna get it from us composties. oh also i need to put inserts in for gas tank and waterbox and such so i would want to use that same carbon for that. thanks

yeah... carbon is not the best of reinforcement since it has a completely different flex pattern than your fiberglass hull. The best way to do it is use a glass matt with one layer of carbon on the outside if you want for looks.

the hull is made of full carbon and kevlar.. so im not bonding to glass. the kevlar was the last layer in the engine bay.

so im thinking of either 5.5 oz carbon twill or a hybrid cloth carbon and kevlar mix to lay down.

So this is strickly for looks...? If the hull is already carbon/kevlar it should be plenty strong as is. Just a single layer of 5.5 will not add much of anything at all, just a bit more resin weight. But if you are looking for a nice carbon that drapes nicely and is very pleasing to the eye go will 2x2 or 4x4 twill.
