Super Jet Carb Makes Vs. Jetting

Does the make of a carb change the jetting, for example Ive got a XS771 and my buddy has a JetWorks 771, We each have our respective builders carbs (XS and BlackJack) could we just swap dual carb set-ups? Im assuming the answer would be "no" but both the set-ups have the same set-up only difference is the builder.

If I'm right and the answer is no its not a straight swap, what would change pop-off or jetting? I know the the XS carbs have a dual check installed for a bigger pilot jet

Thoughts?

The jetting should follow the carbs because they are so different . The engines are probably very similar so my guess is you can swap carbs between the engines with minor jetting changes.

Fuel draw tends to increase faster than airflow with carbs that are relatively large. I often find smaller engines requiring richer settings than larger ones. Pump load also effects fuel flow settings. This is why each installation is unique and MUST be tuned for best performance. It is not at all difficult once you know what to listen for. With that said, if the engine sputters from off idle to when the pipe surges and the throttle responds good whenever its snapped open then the carbs are rich enough to be used safely. The top needles should be power tuned with a tach if you ride WFO for extended periods.

Interesting, So in short your saying they wont be an exact match but the jetting will be close, perhaps fine tuning of the needles?

my 771 was built with 46 mikunis, the return line is restricted and the carburators are specifically set up for the engine and reeds, intake, electrics etc..a swap would work but obviously the performace might not be at its peak..even after rejetting
