carb help

ok i have a 2008 sxr 800
last month i install the blowsion wet pipe. i also have a 29cc head, R&D air-filter, timing adv, 13/22 impeller, intake grate, flow control.

when i put the exhaust on, i also change the high and low jets that came with the kit. cant remember the the high but the low jet is 80. i experienced lag in the low end, 1/8 throttle. i then changed out the needle and seat from a 1.5 to a new 2.0. now im getting to much gas in the crabs and the jet wont turn over. should i change the low jet back to the 72.5???

thank you
joey

If you are still running the stock carbs with the jets that factory pipe suggested i would put your 1.5 needle and seat back in with the new jets. Then from there i would start by tuning your low end adjustment screws and the idle screw to get a solid idle. Then go from there with the low speed adjustment until your getting a crisp throttle response

Also if you are running after market FA's on the stock carbs and did not adjust your pop off pressure this can cause a big lag on throttle response as well

my idle is great perfect for me, but i also forgot to mention that i put a racing fuel pump in (so im not running on stock fuel pump) and with the 1.5 neddle and seat and the 80 low in jet i tinkered for days and had my friend jj tune it and it still had that lag. i call up x team and chuck told my to start with a 2.0 needle and seat and go from there. ("better to run rick then lean") im waiting to hear from him later today hopefully soon. i main problem im seeing is there is more gas going in to the crabs more then before which i expected with the 2.0 needle and seat. so do i change my low jet to the smaller size?

Before that i would put the stock flame arrestors back on and see if the lag goes away. Unless you adjusted your pop off pressure in the carbs to run with the after market Flame arrestors you are going to get a good lag in throttle response.

i got it working its running real rich right now. my problem was that i didnt screw my flow level down tight enough inside the carbs. i miss understood chuck when adjusting the pop-off pressure. tomorrow im going to take it out to the lake and give it a test spin. at the moment i have the low screw adjusted to 1 turn out and the high to 1/2 turn out.

With my wetpipe and FAs I had to go to the 2.0 needle and seat. I had a lean hesitation that just would not go away when going from idle. I went all the way up to a 90 low jet and it did not help. Now I am at a 80 low and 152.5 high with the 2.0 N/S and black spring (85gram I think). I am still a little rich on top but the bottom is nice and crisp.
