Carb Help/Rebuild

Hey X, anyone out there rebuild carbs who
Is reputable. Chuck Nuclear used to be my guy since I’m in NJ but he stopped doing all that. I got practically brand new 38s that I’ve done pop off tests and I did put a size bigger jet in since I’m running air filters not the stock air box. It has a weird Bog at low end and annoys the hell out of me. At the end of the day the thing runs almost perfect. My mixture screws might be off or pop off might be wrong I put new needle and seats and different springs. I’m just done and rather pay for someone who really knows carbs and have them go through them.

Thanks guys.

List your complete setup including hull, engine modifications if any, pump and impeller setup, pipe, ignition. 38s on a 701 is super easy to tune. Not a necessity but upgrading your adjustment screws to the handles really makes tuning easier. Bog down low sounds like pilot or popoff related. They kinda work together. If you changed the oem flame arrestor out for some filter type arrestors, you'll definitely need to lower the popoff. A popoff gauge is highly recommended to make sure both carbs have the same psi. Stock popoff is around 50-55 psi.

Hey thanks for the response, so I have a pop off gauge it’s definitely not that high so maybe I’ll start there. It’s 701 that is bored 1 size up I believe. Stock 38s I put quick adjust T handle screws on it. Stock reeds, mag pump, not sure pitch of impeller came with the pump. MSD ignition, stock exhaust. It’s got Blowsion air filters on it and I changed out the springs and jets to what Tc free ride suggested but my pop off is not 50-55 it’s like 20-30 I think.

The Yamaha's like a little higher popoff. Get it up to 45 ish +/-. Also I've seen this wierd low to mid transition problem particularly on the 701 with dual 38's if the little check flapper on the back of the jet cover is too thick OR been doubled up.
