(Yesterday - and then Today)
"my front tow loop is just for show lol".
It's been a while. I was poking through my old posts...
I bought a carb from Art at Jetworks. I bought a tow loop from Blowsion (For show!)
I've been tearing up the Orlando area for over a month - with a mechanically complete ski. It's pretty fast, for a 650. I need to learn how to keep my ass out of the tray though. It'll save on the chaffing of the legs...
I always thought it was about going fast and having a good time doing it.
Been riding a fair bit now (every weekend for a solid month)...I really (re)learned what Jetskiing is truly about.
It's about the people you meet, the people you get to call your friends, the people that give you sound mechanical advice, the people that send you a text message at O'dark Hundred in the AM and say "Gangs on the way", the people that bring food to the ride and ask you "Do you want a sammich?", the people that wrap their life around riding so that you can enjoy sitting on their boat with them, it's about the people who sympathize when you have engine troubles (that just don't make sense - but rest easy in the knowledge of another rider who will and can help you through it). It's about the guy that decides a shiny fishing lure for his son is pretty cool and decides to retrieve it.. (and jabbs it into his throttle index finger while trying to dig it out of a tree), and then goes to the ER to have it removed AND is back on the water the same afternoon AND tows a broken down couch to their front porch because they wrapped their ski rope around their impeller.
It's about good (AMAZING) people, and your time with them.
...and as God as my witness - it's about the friends you meet along the way.
I can't imagine wanting to do anything else.
It's been 4 consecutive weekends. A month. I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with any other type of people. I've witnessed moments of laughter, the cool breeze on my skin and the sun in my eyes. All I can do is smile.
What do you say to moments like that? (Nothing, really. You just smile and appreciate)
Thanks Art.
I appreciate the fact that you could ask me over the phone what mods were on my ski and build me a bolt on carb that makes my engine sing. (I'm still working on acquiring that ShredMaster rideplate you suggested...)
I've chased a few birds across lake Orienta. It's amazing how fast we can fly together.
Thank you Janet.
Thank you Fred.
Thanks Rick.
Thanks Scott.
Thanks... for being there!
I'm sure I'll need a wet suit next weekend, but I'll see you there.
ya i would rather ride than work on my boat any day. dont get me wrong, i love tearing things completely down and redoing them from the bottom up but when im done turning the last screws to tune mine i should get plenty of reliable time out of it. my front tow loop is just for show lol.
