Button heads

oh yeah... I almost forgot to say something about this one...

I went to lowes on my drive home last friday to get some button head screws/bolts... I didn't see them on the shelves so I asked 2 different guys that worked in the hardware dept... they didn't even know what a button head was...

I will prob just save myself the trip to fastenal which is about a 20 minute drive for me and order off mcmaster carr.

Do you guys use washers under the bolt head and under the nut on the other side? or just under the nut? Anyone remember the size of washer they used?

I also saw on mcmaster that they have a button head with a flange.... would this maybe be better than just a regular button head?

BTW- most important piece of info I almost left out: This is for shortening a stock handpole... replacing the rivets with bolts

Sorry link to Mcmaster did not work... I added a pic of the button head with the flange (see original post)... think this is better for shortening the pole than a regular button head?

I was told that basically the most important thing is a low profile of the bolt to you dont get caught on it sliding around on the front of the ski...

Not that I think the flange is that important... I just figured if it might be a little better than why not get some.... they come in 1/4"-20 stainless too... I would get 3/4" long I think

Can someone sell me some STAINLESS STEEL:

-button head bolts 1/4"-20 - about 3/4" long
-nylocks to fit bolts
-washers to fit bolts

???

I only need enough to shorten my stock handpole... if I order through mcmaster or fastenal my total price just for the fasteners will be pricey!

Please help if you have some extras from your project. I will pay something for them of course unless you just feel generous

the bolts dont do much its the epoxy that really holds it together.
if i was doing it again i would have just used a couple bolts per side or broke down and got a pop rivet gun.

Confirmed my what I have been thinking for some time now... Home Depot is better than Lowes... they have them in stock...

Thank you for the offer Mark. If you have tons of extras of these laying around let me know... Do you have SS nylocks, washers, and button heads? If so, how much? Just need enough to shorten the stock pole...

If you don't have a surplus don't worry.... I'll just make a trip to the HD.

Sweet! Thanks Mark. Do you want to go ahead and ship it and let me know the price of shipping and I will send you some $ through paypal? I dont usually get stuff that is so small... how would you go about it? COD? Whatever's easiest for you. Envelope with a stamp inside? Not sure if you can send stuff like that in a standard envelope...
