building a yamaha freestyle engine.

Im in the process of getting out of my 750 sx and into a rn superjet. I want big power for flatwater tricks and wake jumping. I was thinking of starting to build an engine while I wait to get my new ski.

Im a little confused about all the engines. I know there are 2 versions of the 701 and a 760. What has the most potential for a freestyle engine? I plan on re-sleeving to go big bore and sending it out to be ported. I am trying not to get into the expense of building a stroker. so with that in mind can someone educate me on what works and what doesnt? Who should I have port it, where can I find big bore sleeves etc. Like I said I want to start gathering parts to put it all together by spring time.

Go big or go home! Big bore +8 lamey power valve dual 48 Full Spectrums

But if you cant afford a $7000 motor I guess you can just go with the 61x cylinder platform like most people =)

The 62t cylinder has taller exhaust ports and isnt as desireable for freestyle, but it can be a beefy setup

Team Scream is a popular route for porting, thats who I'll be going with when I scrounge up the rest of my cash

I would go with (on a budget)a 62t bottom 61x top.Bore of your choice.
compression at or around 180psi
freestyle porting
B pipe
msd enhanced or total loss.
Going with a stroker lamey is $$ and you will continue to spend $$ on it.
Big power costs big bucks.
Do some searching and you will see what most run.

How much are you willing to spend ?

I couldn't be happier with my stock bore stock stroke X-scream motor.
For what it is, it has plenty of power for my needs and than some.
Rock solid and bullet proof.

Give them a call , they will work with you and will work out a package with your budget and power needs in mind.(727) 442-7700

You might also try to talk to other builders and get some options, do your research and spend wisely.

I want enough power to barrel roll a stock hull sj with my 180lbs on it, and oneday have the potential maybe backflip with a minus 3 hull. I guess I plan to spend about 3 grand on the motor. ( including lightweight flywheel, and possibly carbs)

If your after a flatwater backflip motor you will most likly need a stroker.
ive had a fully ported 62t with total loss and diff pipe and carb setups and its damn near imposs to back flip a stock hull or shortened hull.
Imo.
Give scream a call or one of the other reputable engine builders on here a call. They will be able to set you up a powerplant for the money..
Its worth paying for a setup that is known to work!
