I'm building my first ski (kawi conversion) and thought about doing a new hood since I want to have my own unique touch on it. I have plenty of fiberglass and mechanical experience, but I don't know much about skis. With that in mind, I was wondering about the necessity of some of the aspects of the hood. As you all know, on the 550 there are holes at the front and rear of the pole tunnel as well as a hole off the top, which seem to me as breather holes. When looking at other hoods from various ski hulls (granted from pictures over the internet only) it seems that they don't have any. Am I accurate in this assumption? If so, how or where does the engine get air to it if the hood doesn't have any on these models (I'm assuming the seal between the hull and hood is pretty tight)? Any information on this topic is appreciated. Thanks.
