Bolt recommendation for XMW hood hook?

Looks like I need to get a hex head because of the recess. Anyone know the thread size? Better yet, anyone have a McMaster part number?

I think i used an 8x40mm or 6x40mm but I cant remember.

If you plan to use 6mm metric machine head bolts they usually will not fit. Pat designed the hooks to use 1/4" 20 pitch bolts. I found this out when trying to stay metric and just bought some SS 6 x 30mm from the local Ace hardware store. The heads are just a little too big but the SAE bolts fit fine. This was a problem for me as I wanted to attach to the stocker backing plate with the built in nuts. I ended up just machining down the 6mm heads a little and all is fine now.

Either 6mm or 1/4" will work for the diameter, but I don't know the length off hand. Take the hook to Home Depot with you.

My Home Depot sucks for SS stuff. I'll check the Ace, but Keith gave me what I need - 1/4" 20 pitch. I'll head to the garage to measure the length.

Well crap - that didn't work out so well. I'd forgotten that the backing plate for the pole bracket covers the bottom of the hooks, so I went to take the plate off - it's stuck like sh*t to a blanket! Can't get the four outer bolts to pull out (although the nuts came off easily enough). It's still 97* out there after a 100+ day, so it's way too hot to be wrenching. That means it's be getting some 6mm bolts and I'll be machining the heads so that I can use the stock nuts....

I used Allen head and they fit perfect.

i drilled mine out alittle to use an m6 allen head bolt i hate mixing standard and metric
