I have this on the fuel pickup in my FX1:
Yesterday, the ski would die at WOT racing my wife. FX1Dave told me it was likely fuel delivery starvation at WOT.
I started troubleshooting this morning from the tank to the carb and noticed dirt in the tank. The fuel pickup screen also seemed clogged.
But what is more, in cleaning the fuel pickup screen with carb cleaner, I noticed that the little BB which is the check valve in the fuel pickup was frozen.
After cleaning it moves freely when I shake it. Maybe the BB was frozen in such a manner so as to prevent full fuel flow.
Hopefully will ski tomorrow to test.
Don't look significantly cleaner in the second photo, but they are, and the check ball which was stuck in the primary fuel pick up freely moves.
The aluminum pickup tubes had white corrosion on them. I brass wire wheeled them and ordered some 316 stainless 1/4" straight tube.
