haha

noticed smoke, and a burning smell coming out of my boat while getting a tow yesterday ( ran out of fuel, reserve didnt work, sperate issue)

so I remove the hood, and see smoke POURING out of the engine compartment, so of course, I roll the boat over and sink it.

this is whats left of one of my bilge pumps, I can barely see a zip tie hung in it, I assume it locked the rotor from spinning, and ive got a 10 amp fues, since smaller ones kept burning up, so I guess I had a 10 amp fire for 45 mionutes while being towed.

this smelled TERRIBLE.

only one pump in there currently, and its working.

I flooded and dump the hull several times yesterday in an attempt to get all the other crap outof there, AND that terrible burnt electrical smell.

the bag of doritos got wet, and all of my beer cans floated away, so the hull is pretty clean in side now.

with all the crap you have in your hull i'd say you're lucky, wasn't there a bag of doritos in there? how many pumps are in there now?? how many work???? bwahahahaha

Kind of makes you glad you ran out of gas. A burned up pump is better than a big KABOOM!

It may sound silly to say about a bildge pump, but glad your ok. I worry about wires going bad in my old ski with all those gas fumes.

Thats what you get when you have tainted bilge water:crazy: That sucks man, I would have thought that a 10 amp would be the best choice. Thats what I run for my 2 pumps. My guess would be that the overheated motor was hot enough to melt but still drew less than 10 amps. Thats just freaky. I thought the bilge pumps were supposed to be overload protected and spark proof? I would send that picture to Attwood customer service and maybe get some freebies out of them. Yeah right..

I had the same thing happen before I knew better than to run a fuse.
On the bilge pump packages think I remember it saying they only draw like 2.5 amps each.

Still starting that ski with the stop button? :shhh:

I should send them the pics, im sure they will say it was my crappy wiring and oversized fuse to blame though.
