Putting a bendix in my sj, lost track of what order things go back together in. Its been apart for a couple months... As I recall there is a spring & washer that go against the case side?? Help me out.

A large thin flat washer goes between the drive and the case. A small flat washer, then a spring then another small flat washer is in the front cover ( with grease)

dunk the bendix in transmission fluid then wipe it off and install it.

i used to dunk in ATF. But no longer. If I have a new bendix I will install it dry. ATF is very thin, and slings everywhere just making the entire timing casing to be a mess.
If your going to dunk it in anything at least get some TriTeflon fluid. At least that will penetrate and stay in the surface of the metal.
