Octane Before I grind- Trim question

I installed the X-Metal trim, and the nozzle doesn't trim up very far before it hits the lip on the rear of the hull. Just want to hear from someone who's done it before that I need to grind some relief out of that lip...
Also, seems the steering cable doesn't have enough throw for the raider nozzle. Is going to a superjet steering cable a must, or do I need to drill a new hole in the nozzle steering arm...? I can't even get the cable adjusted so the bar and nozzle are both centered at the same time...
Thanks, Alex

i started out with a pro-tec trim system for my Octane but when i got it i wasnt happy with it so luckily i have a cousin that is a machinist. cutting the back of the hull where your nozzle is, is a must. when you do this make sure when you cut it you cut wide enough so you can turn wit the trim up. i still have the stock steering cable but i had to add to the pro-tec nozzle so that my steering cable would work.

Thanks.
What did you do for a ride plate? I have the composite one that looks like it was cut shorter. Was trying to order the Jet Dynamics plate from Blowsion, but they are not real confident on their Octane inventory...

i have the stock fiberglass ride plate. i tried using a ride plate that has a "D" cut in it but i couldnt ride with it because i couldnt keep it at plaining speed. Blowsion doesnt have alot of stock for Octanes. when i call Blowsion about a part for my Octane i always talk to John the owner. I only go through Blowsion very rarely about my Octane i usually go through Watcon or even different internet searches. Wamiltons has some stuff for Octanes also. if you know what brand of ride plate you want look at the manufacturers website and see if you can buy from them. they might be the same as buying it from someone like Blowsion.

About to be a new Octane rider. Got it all back together and going in the water for the first time today.
Question though; is it normal for the drive coupler to get hot running out of water on the driveshaft side? Is the engine out of alignment, or is it just number from the bearing carrier without the water to cool it?
Thanks
