This may sound stupid but is there a certain type of battery you should get for your ski? What do most people recommend?

AGM sealed battery is what I run. Or you could go with a gel battery it's little pricy

Depends on your goals and your budget. If you're serious about flatwater freestyle, are concerned about every ounce of weight on your boat, and/or run a PFP exhaust, a good quality LiFePO4 battery is the way to go. Spendy.
If you don't have that much money, go with a small gel battery.
If you don't care about weight, a good AGM battery is just fine.
