AAAArrgh! yes it happens to everyone sooner or later. got the hole drilled out but the piece of the screw that someone had stuck in there didn't get drilled all the way out it fell and got cocked in the passage. and I didn't know it. so naturally when I tapped the hole I ended up getting the tap wedged in and couldn't get it out. It broke after about 15 minutes of gently trying to massage it out.so now its totally fubared and I drilled some bigger holes to get it cleared out and see whats up in there. not sure but if I can find a insert large enough I may be able to concoct a halfassed repair of totally scrap metal head pipes.

anyone ever try to pull this off? anyone got junked head pipes they want fixed if I can make it happen? my next bet is to have the hole welded back up and redrill it back to stock specs. either way I have a new head pipe coming, but I am sure this won't be the last time someone has this problem. and if it can be fixed for a lot less than the new one, why not try to salvage some others?

update later......
