B-pipe fine tuning

Ok, I need some help here since I read conflicting reports:

I have a 62T 701 motor in my semi light hull, all stock except for:

- Bpipe
- angled mani spacer
- removed choke plates
- cooling: from head to bottom of head pipe, and from headpipe to w/b and pisser, and an outlet for the oem tiny water outlet in OEM head.
- 2008 OEM SJ impeller 13-16
- rev limiter disconnected
- wet wolf cone

How do I set up my pipe to hit as hard as it can for best low end performance/ throttle response? I almost do not make any WOT runs, maybe just to clear some water before jumps. All tips on fine tuning the above setup will be greatly appreciated. Pipe seems cool to me - way too cool.

Best regards,

Andrew

bottom screw 3/4 and 1/4 mid this is the best ive found on 61x cylinder but on my old 62t cylinder the top screw worked better at 2.5 turns .i also t off a second pisser from head to bottom of headpipe line

make sure you run a restrictor in the stinger end of the chamber. I made my own by drilling a 1/16 th hole in a primer plug for a carb. This helps out bigtime for responsiveness. As long as you have an aluminum waterbox and not a old squarenose fibeglass one.

Yeah, a restrictor is a great thing - I had a jetwork valve (v.good!) and loved it - lost at the lake..., what about the screw settings on the pipe - please chip in...

I've read everything from "only the top screw for the best bottom end" to "only the bottom screw for best bottom end". Either way...just make sure the pipe is good and warm but not too hot to burn the coupler or sizzle water that splashes on it. Some people swear by certain pipe configurations but I can't really tell the difference between so hot it melts the coupler and barely warm.

exactly what I have read..thus still asking my (stupid) questions... I just wanted to come to a conscensus about playing with the water screws.

I guess when Fpipe come out with the Bpipe they did not consider freestyle at all - only "tight buoy course".....

bottom closed, middle closed, top opend JUST enough to not melt your hose going to water box, seriously, my top screw is open like 1/8-1/16 turn,. barely at all. ive also got the stinger teed off to a jetworks valve and pisser.

stock squarenose water box, stock 61x engine, it hits HARD.

it was weak and mushy as hell, any other way I tried it.

I had to use some restrictors to get enough pressure make the cooling water into the head pipe MIST, instead of dribble.

Ive got good pump cooling water pressure ( low pitched concord impeller), but I had to play and adjust many times, I melted the cooling lines a few times tinkering with it.

there is a thread on it, somewhere, by me, named " help me tune my B pipe"

here

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
I also have to agree... dry as possible without melting... that seems to work best in my opinion...

be real careful of temp though... dont melt your stuff...

Yeah I cannot disagree here..as dry as it can get...but, injecting water into different part of the headpipe creates different sonic waves, which in turn affect entire powerband...so where to inject to have the best kick? Also some say that water temp will affect the setting of screws..so many factors to consider...I guess playing with it will give the best results....I will close all, and open the top one 1/3...and then close it and do the same to bottom one...

Thank you for your comments! Very helpful and adequate!

just do 1 and 1/2 on the top screw... and then take it out and run it... then bring it back and turn it in 1/4 then run it... then turn it in another 1/4 and run it... then take it in another 1/4 and run it.... when you find the best feel then stay there... or then try opening the bottom 1 and 1/2 turns and try doing it on that one too... but you'll almost definately end up with the top open and the bottom closed... middle maybe open a small amount? but that will be up to you... had the middle and bottom closed on my 701 as well as on my 870...
