This seller flat out lied in his ad. Shipped fast, item was packed very poor. Emailed seller about the item, never heard a response..

Paypal just gave me a refund because this guy never replied to one of MANY emails to him... So now I have a worthless crank, and my money back.

Here is the ad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190075345776

Lesson learned, don't buy cranks off of ebay... (however gordy30 from PJS sent me a good one! and was honest about it)

I would give him his crank back, but he has to pay for shipping. I'm not shipping back a turd. I will take the time to box it up nice, but I'm not going to pay the charge.

In all honesty, if he would have just contacted me though email and said, "sorry, I didn't see that" or "I didn't know what I was looking for" I would have worked out a deal with him... By not responding makes me not want to help him at all...
SBT told me "no" to a core 650/701/760 crank already, then I asked again and they said "$5"... Its worth as a paperweight than anything else.... I'm not an unfair guy, but I had a poor dealing with this guy, so I am voicing my disliking... I can't believe he didn't even bother to mail me once... I said crap on it, and put a claim in with paypal, he did nothing, so I got the money back..

If I tried to sell this crank, I would have the same thing happen to me, what has happend to him, so I don't feel too bad about taking my money back. But you will not see this crank on ebay again unless you see *CORE* or *JUST rebuilt*...

Well an update,

This asswhipe just gave me negative feedback on ebay, saying that I retraceted my payment w/o communicating.

So, I will post up all the messages I sent to him.

These ones where sent though ebay, which, sends to email AND ebay mail:

I just got the crank in the mail. Thanks for the fast shipping, thats great.

However, once I got it here, I pulled it out, and one of the rods are not tight, the bearing is shot... This crank is not useable at all... This item is not as discribed, as you said in your ad "The bearings feel pretty smooth and the connecting arms don't wiggle at all up / down and have the normal bit of side to side movement." Which is not true at all as one of the rods do move up/down. Quite a bit.

I would either A) like a full refund, or B) we have to figure something out.. This will not work at all. And if I tried to resell it on ebay, I would get the next guy telling me I to give him a refund. I can't even sell it to SBT as a core, they are only offering $5 and they told me "no" once before about a 701 crank.

Please contact me asap.

Thanks
-Nick
djyox@msn.com

Please contact me ASAP. The item was not as discribed. We need to figure out what to do about this.

Thanks
-Nick

Please contact me ASAP. We need to figure out what to do with this crank... I have contacted paypal and will take it further if I do not hear back from you ASAP!

Item is NOT as discribed!

Thanks again,
-Nick
djyox@msn.com

Please contact me ASAP. If I do not hear from you by Sunday night (2/4/07) or Monday day (2/5/07) I will be dealing with paypal again to escalate this dispute to a claim.

Thank you
-Nick

And here are the messages though paypal:

The item that you sent me is different from how you discribed in your ad. I opened the box, pulled it out, and one of the rod bearings are shot. This crank is not useable as is. And because its one of the rod bearings, Its not worth fixing even as a backup. I am asking for a full refund. I would like to keep this between us, but seeing as this is my first problem through ebay, I am unsure what to do. So I am opening a claim with paypal, but if we can figure something out, I will close it. Please contact me ASAP! -Nick djyox@msn.com

Please contact me by Sunday night (2/4/07) or Monday day (2/5/07) Or I will escalate this dispute to a claim. This item at all as it was not as discribed. This is exactly what you said it wasn't. Thank you for your fast reply. -Nick djyox@msn.com

I'm escalating this to a claim. I can see you are just ignoring this problem as you are still using ebay. I have left you messages by email/ebay/paypal. Thank you.

The seller flat out lied in his discription of the item. Quote from ad "The bearings feel pretty smooth and the connecting arms don't wiggle at all up / down..." is not true at all. As they do move. A LOT! The bearings being shot when buying a crank is the same as buying a car that doesn't run. If a seller said a car runs fine, and then get it only to find that it would need major repair that costs more than the car is worth to get it to run, that is a flat out lie, as is this sellers discription of this item, and the item itself. I have tried contacting the seller from day one that I got the crank in the mail, but the seller as ignored my emails. I have tried to contact him though email/ebay/paypal. I see he is still using ebay and should see my mails to him. I am willing to post up all emails/dates/or any other info as needed. Thank you for your time.

Does anyone think I did not give him a fair chance? Its not like paypal just saw in my favor for one email. THis guy did not even REPLY to ANY of the messages I sent... I get this feedback from him in ebay, my FIRST and ONLY negitave feedback, "Retracted payment without returning item or communicating. Flunky." WHAT AN ASSHOLE!

This guy should NEVER get anyone to buy from him again, IMHO! I will forsure NEVER buy from him again! POOR EBAYER!

Oh yeah, and here is from paypal:
We have granted this claim. The seller did not respond to this case by the required deadline.

Never responded, HOWEVER, I do now know that his email/ebay mail works. I got this in my inbox tonight:

I couldn't help but noticed my feedback percentage dropped 0.1% because of your feedback. My feedback left for you caused a crippling 3% drop. Who's gonna want to deal with you now? Suck it [edit] head....ha ha ha ha.

So I responded:
Thank you for finally getting back to me. All of this could have been avoided, and I would have been willing to work out a deal with you about that crank. However, now its to far past that, and I am no longer willing to deal with you. SO I will be keeping the crank, and my money back. I also will be keeping the coupler and the flywheel bolt that you so kindly included. Those alone make up for the poor dealings with you.

Here is a total of the extra stuff you included in the sale that I will be able to keep off of your crappy crank:
FLANGE, COUPLING 1 $42.91
COLLAR, DRIVE SHAFT 1 $40.39
KEY, WOODRUFF 1 $4.11
BOLT 1 $16.33

And there was a good bearing that felt brand new on there that I will be keeping as an extra:
BEARING 1 $56.80
CIRCLIP 1 $5.41

I would have been willing to work out a deal for these items to be fair, but you never replied to me. You just ignored it and wished it away. You are the ONLY person on ebay I have dealt with that has been a child and TRIED to rip people off. Some did not know, but you flat out TRY to rip people off, then laugh about it. I hope this comes around a bites you in the *** again.

I hope no one ever has to deal with you again, but I'm sure there will be many more suckers for you to draw in and try to cheat and steal from.

Have a good life, and hope to never deal with you again!
-Nick

PS, thanks for the turd of a paperweight, sure am glad you LOST money on this by having to ship it!

UPDATE AGAIN:

>I love you motorhead types....you think that **** is actually "worth" the money you
> quote.

My reply:
I know its not, I would never pay that much for the parts I qouted you for, well, I guess the bolt I would, because you can't really get that used... The coupler would value out at about 75% of that, and the bearing I would get in a rebuild kit and is not worth that price..

None the less, I am happy that you are out money due to shipping, and I can still get something worth out of this crank.

I can't believe you wouldn't even talk to me. I saw you using ebay, so I know you were online and saw my messages. If you would have just talked to me, I would have worked out some type of a deal with you. But now, I have bad feedback, you have bad feedback, and I will never deal with you again. Live and learn I guess.

Have fun ripping others off on ebay! I see by some of your other feedback I am not the first, and I am sure I wont be the last.

Good day,
-Nick

So I responded:

For some reason it won't quote your emails

What did you expect.
You didn't actually think you were going to get a good useable crank for $31+shipping after you read the sellers description did you?

Here's his description
" Should fit all Yamaha 701cc motors. Bought this off ebay as a spare; I believe that auction stated that something was out of spec but I can't remember what. The bearings feel pretty smooth and the connecting arms don't wiggle at all up / down and have the normal bit of side to side movement. Feel free to ask questions. Paypal payment only please. Shipping will be $27.00 USPS. Thanks for looking. ".

The part that is red would have sent off alarms in my head.
Too good to be true comes to mind.

Here's the auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190075345776

Maybe I'm missing something here if I am please let me know.

Yup, too good to be true does come to mind, HOWEVER, you didn't highlight the right stuff...

Sorry I should include the ebay ad for everyone to look at...

What was I expecting? I was expecting someone selling something that was good but they didn't know was right. If I sell you a crank and said "The bearings feel pretty smooth and the connecting arms don't wiggle at all up / down and have the normal bit of side to side movement." What would you expect to get? A few bad bearings that grind, and a rod that is as sloppy as an 90year old ho?

I replied him right away when I got it, expecting to be able to work something out with him, MY problem with him was that he was not willing to comunicate at all... I was MORE than willing to work out a deal with him. I don't know, I guess this isn't how I would treat someone who bought something from me, and I don't expect it from others...

Yes I know its ebay, and I knew there was some risk, but with how he said it, I figured it would be a good spare to get me to the end of the year if I trashed a crank, maybe a bearing that felt a little rought, but rods nice and tight... Not a total loss...

Was my line of thinking that far off from what it should have been? Yeah red flags did go up when I read his ad, but I figured as a spare, why not... And hell like you said, $31+s/h, it was going to be like back when you could get good deals off of ebay!

Maybe I'm just a little paranoid:sneaky: or just more cautious than your average ebayer.
I don't like buying used cranks or used motors on ebay that I can't inspect unless I know the seller.
So from my point of view I definitely highlighted the right stuff.

Live and learn I guess.
Good luck with ebay.

Found this
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-abuse-withdrawal.html

Feedback abuse and removal

Feedback that meets any of the circumstances below is feedback abuse and may be subject to removal.
Feedback that doesn't meet any of the reasons outlined below will not be removed:

eBay is provided with a valid court order finding that the disputed feedback is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise illegal.

The feedback comment contains profane, vulgar, obscene, or racist language or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc., while strongly discouraged, will not be removed.

The feedback comment contains personal identifying information about another member, including real name, address, phone number, or e-mail address.

The feedback makes reference to an eBay, PayPal or law enforcement organization investigation.

The feedback comment contains links or scripts.

Negative feedback intended for another member will be considered for removal only in situations where the member responsible for the mistaken posting informs eBay of the error and has already placed the same feedback for the correct member.

Feedback left by a person ineligible to participate in eBay transactions, according to Section 1 of the eBay User Agreement, at the time of the transaction or the time the feedback was left.

Feedback left by a member who provided eBay with false contact information and could not be contacted. In general, the transaction period is considered to be 90 days from the end of the listing or 30 days from the date the feedback was left, whichever was longer.

Feedback left by a member who bid on or purchased an item solely to have the opportunity to leave negative feedback for the seller, with no intention of completing the transaction.

Feedback left by users who are indefinitely suspended for certain policy violations within 90 days of registration. eBay takes the position that members who are indefinitely suspended soon after registration shouldn't be able to permanently impact another member's account.

eBay will automatically remove feedback from members indefinitely suspended within 90 days of registration. Not all suspension types qualify for automatic feedback removal. For example, accounts that are suspended for non-payment of eBay bills and instances when eBay provides the member with the opportunity to fix the issue (and be reinstated), do not qualify for automatic removal.

I was going to say that I bet you wouldn't have bought a used crank at all unless you could touch it and see it in person.

Yes it did bring up some red flags when I read that... But the price was low, and what he said right after that made me feel better... He knew what he was selling was junk, he didn't even fight me on it when when I offered to work out a deal or get my money back...

IF he would have emailed me or talked to me, I would have worked out a deal where maybe he would credit some cash to another sale he had or something ya know... Anything other than me keeping both my money, and the crank.

So I guess he isn't all that bad of a seller, I mean, he wont fight you for your money back if you feel he is in the wrong... I just wont be buying from him again, and anyone who doesn't want to mess around with getting crap and then having to get your money back, I would say not to buy from him either...

But this could have gone a lot worse.... But he is forsure the worst person I have delt with when buying off of the net, maybe I've just been lucky.. I have read some storys that have gone a lot worse than this...
