Does anyone get their engines powdercoated or anything else for their skis, Can it be done to the engine. I know someone who can do it cheap and Im going to build an engine this winter just wondering if I should just high temp paint it or powdercoat. It will probably be black but maybe something crazy.

I asked this question here a few months back and was told it's a bad idea.

Don't exactly remember why (I think it had something to do with warping due to the heat in the coating process) but if these guys say it's bad than that's good enough for me.

exhaust components are ok but not the motor. You may have some warpage issues on the cases as well.

Powdercoated 250r(ATV) cases do just fine. Did not cause damage to them so I don't see why it would to Superjet cases

I used powder coatings on all of the engines external surfaces. The powder coating was sprayed on with an electrostatic gun and baked at three hundred fifty degrees Fahrenheit for ten minutes. This epoxy coating is very durable and scratch resistant. The only draw back is that, if you ever have to install cylinder sleeves, you will have to acid dip the cylinder and have it recoated after the sleeves are installed. After the parts were baked in the oven, I checked all the surfaces with a straight edge and they were fine. I used ceramic chrome coating on the B-Pipe chamber and the black epoxy powder coating on the exhaust manifold. The coatings have held up for almost a year now in salt water use every weekend.

that engine is ugly why would I wanna make anything that clean, jk that thing looks like it could be stock. I'll talk to the guy who does it here and see wha he says and about temps, otherwise what is a good brand type to use just for some color and protection that wont run off.

Go to any competant powdercoater, if you do not have one, I can reccomend a guy that does super work, and he will not screw you on shipping ext. Has great prices, and has done the powdercoating on cases before, just not 701.
