Just trying to get an average price for what it would be to ship a SuperJet gas tank with pickup inside the US.
Anyone with experience shipping one please let me know about what it costed and who you shipped with, thanks.

all depends where you are shipping it to. i use usps cause its cheapest. i have a pretty accurate shipping calculator in my head from shipping thousands of parts. its going to be about $18 + or - to ship that tank. if you get a half ass close weight, you can call usps on the phone and ask for a quote from your zip to theirs.

Just don't tell them it's a fuel container, or at least hint that it might have ever had fuel in it (also make sure it is sealed up tight so they can't smell it).

USPS will be your best bet. They calculate their prices mostly off of weight unless the box it huge. An empty fuel tank should be pretty cheap to ship. I would guess around $20. Just go to usps.com and use the shipping calculator, then you will know what to expect. You can also try ups, but I'm guessing it would be twice the price.

I shipped my tom21 fixed steer hood for 23$ i did ship it from work and we have a large account with ups, but i don't see it being much worse than that.

My wife just Tryed shipping a tank to Canada but since she put on the label it was a Sj gas tank they told her they wouldn't ship it so now I gota take it back in and tell them it's something else so just don't tell them it's a tank

I always ship FedEx, and us an account I have had for quite a while.

The box won't weigh much, so it should be around $20 or less as others have mentioned.

On fuel tanks, I always rinse them out thoroughly, and let them dry. You can also take an air nozzle and zip tie the button down and stick in the tank...this fully dries it out and gets rid of most fumes. After that I wrap it in at least two trash bags and tape the ends down to keep fumes from coming out. If any fumes are noticed, they will leave the tank where it is, and you could even be responsible for "clean up/disposal" of the item.

Just shipped a jetcraft B1 waterbox. USPS was $27 and unreliable. FedEx was $21. But I guess like you guys say USPS is ALWAYS cheaper. Unless its a flat rate box FedEx is usually close price not less and much more reliable. EDIT: Sent a Xmetal pole to Gary in Galveston Texas, USPS wanted $74, UPS was $56. I know he received a well packed pipe shipped USPS recently and it didn't arrive the way it left YMMV
