aren't you running 33's matt? does a port job let you run lower octane?

Yup, 33cc domes on 82mm bore.
My porting lowers the cranking compression to about 178psi or so. I believe Paul's freestyle porting does something similar.
But I also run TL, which gives me additional safety on top.

Do you have gopfer holes for porting?

Matt,

I was just curious. Both of are motors very similar but the compression readings are drastically different 178psi vs. 210psi. Would it make a difference between 62T / 61X cylinders with port timing? Guys teach me something:biggrin:

I did not raise the exhaust ports, but when I widened them, I also brought the corners out and up, effectively raising the corners of the port. So, that lowers the cranking compression.
My bore is definetely not fresh. In fact, I don't know how old it is.
Compression would likely go up a bit on a fresh bore.
I am at approx. 2500ft above sea level - that lowers the compression.
If I think of it, I'll do a test this weekend at the coast.

My gauge is a Schuck's cheapo, so it may well be off.
