Need to lengthen a wire on my wetjet, and hoping there is a crimp kit or something to do it with?

Used to do that a lot back in the Kaw 650 days. Wire core would fracture (work harden from vibration) a few inches from the spark plug boot. I would take a new piece of wire and crimp it -using an ordinary wire connector- onto the existing wire coming from the coil. Then I would apply a liberal amount of RTV to that joint and adjacent cable and slide a 3" length of cheap fuel line over the joint- would last for years. Certainly a viable repair and a water tight, well insulated joint. I recall discussing this once before on this forum-about 8 years ago. Wow! A few sensitive members thought it to be crude at the time- poor diggler caught hell.

MSD makes a splice kit don't they? Should be able to find a pic and mimic it easy enough.

I don't understand the controversy. What a guy does to keep his ride running is called ingenuity and is generally rewarded. Passing it off on others might be questionable though.

I will deff keep this in mind the next time I am in a pinch.

it's quick, inexpensive and the piece of hose can be a lot shorter. I just made it that long for rigidityP1030028.JPG . That NGK thingy should be supported or fastened somehow, these wire dance around a lot at low rpm.
