Super Jet anyone know this 701 swapped sx? friend bought it from FL never has run right....

runs fine for 5-10 mins then acts like its going into a temp protection mode, wont rev over idle, instantly pegs redline... bogs. dies if you try and ride it, plugs look brown, the fuel lines are tapped into the oem kawi tank, its set to res. then theres a vent filter looking thing hanging off one connector, not sure if its a one way valve or not yet,

750sx with a 701 swap, from FL, 750sx pump , friend says he has tried to unplug the temp sensor and it made no change, anyways if anyone has any info please share, im going to try and help him tomorrow and power test it on the trailer, the pissers are working fine, main water feed is connected to the mid of the 750 pump and runs into a line near/below the starter.. correct water feed?

any ideas? maybe some stator tests we could try with a meter?

I had the same problem with my gp701. basically the westcoast pipe I have on it had one inlet plugged but every other hose was free. It would get hot and trip the sensor right away. but I still had water flowing like you do. SO my first suggestion is blow out all the lines and fittings. Then clean the carb or carbs what ever motor set up you have. Make sure fuel lines are ran correctly. My bet is on the plugged fitting somewhere on your pipe though

Have you done all the standard checks? Compression, leak down test, test the one-way valve on the tank, ohm check the coils, etc? With the symptom described, it could be a lean condition in the carb/carbs - barely runs, then pegs redline, then bogs - is this responding to the throttle or on its own? Also, which pipe does it have? The Factory Pipes need to have the water screw holes cleaned out periodically. (stock pipe?)

no like i said we just have yet to start on it, im a kawi guy soooo i dont know the wires to check on yam.. its not erratic it runs good when cold then dies after like 10 mins "thus far" then stays dead until it sits.. all stock motor and carbs and pipe.. motors clean, pipes clean, looks like its in good shape just maybe a stator or temp issue?

Gotcha. It does sound electrical. It's hard to decipher what's going on without being there. If you don't have some ohm specs by tomorrow, I'll call my Yamaha mechanic friend and get some resistances/specs.
