Super Jet Anybody use valve check (one way valve) before the bilge exit?

Hi Guys
Is anybody use a check valve (one way valve) for bilge pump before the exit in through hull? to prevent water to enter inside the hull. In case of flip or sub merge or tilt on the side.

i cant leave my pumps running, they spool up really fast and when water does get to them they do nothing. if i turn the off then back on they pump just fine again. both brand new this year.

a check valve is a good idea thou but damn with two pumps and dual cooling there is enough going on back there. it would be really crowded to put a loop on both hoses.

Sounds like you have Rule 500's... they suck, well actually they don't. There's only a minority that has them and they don't dry lock themselves. Either go with different size Rule (300 or 750?) or Attwood Tsunami's.

Thanks guys for the input,
but i just wanna make sure that this check valve will work with rule bilge 500.
Is it enough pressure from the pump to go through this check valve?
it is a Shurflow valve from west marine.
thx

I thought about doing something like this as well becuase I have my bilge exit mounted in my front foot hold and worry about it being under the water level at times. The issue I see with the valve above is how much it's going to restrict the flow once your pump is primed and trying to push water. If my engine bay is full of water I want my pumps moving as much water as possible. A mini scooper valve or something that retains the 3/4" id of the bilge hose is what I'd look for...

I just did a quick google search. I'm not saying use that exact one, although it looks like it would work well. My main point is to get something that uses the 3/4" hose and doesn't require much pressure to flow. You may have to order something online and have it shipped....
