Trying to get some perspective here . . .

What is your opinion on Analog TL static advance? I've read a lot of 28 degree votes, but have also heard that 16 should be the max with 12 as a good starting point.

I'm planning on running pump gas on a 5 mil flat-top lamey. 26cc domes ( I believe) B-Pipe, Dual 44s, v-force, ADA head, cases fingerported and filled. 5000 retard start point at 3 deg/1000, 8000 max.

If I start at 12 I'll be at 0 by 7500. If I start at 16 I'll be at 0 at about 8000.

Well....the 5mil stroker might affect the timing. Chuckie would be an excellent person to ask.

FWIW, I ran at least 30 degrees static on my analog TL, on pumpgas, a ported 701, with b-pipe, and 190psi.

If you start at 28 degrees, and start retardation at 5200 rpm, then you're 25@6200, 22@7200, 19@8200.
That's a bit harsh....I would stick with the initial 28, but retard 4/1000. That gives you 24@6200, 20@7200. Still edgy.
The stroker will throw it off though, I think.

I've had a conversation with Chuckie about TL timing before. I think he said to be below 20 degrees advance at 6500 RPM or so.
I made my curve to match that....I got 29 degree static, start retard @ 5500, final off max retard is 15, RPM limit is 8500. I think.
Anyways, I run 180psi on a ported 61x on pumpgas WOT all day long with that.
