Am i going about it the right way?

Okay so im trying to lose some wieght....well a lot of weight and so far ive been able to trim 20lbs or so off my frame. i went from about 269 to 250 or there abouts. so after i saw that i lost some wieght i decided to order some what of my own stack. i bought some super pump 250, L-carnitine, and the leanest protien i could find. on top of that i take a multi and some b12 pills as well. am i on the right track to lose some more weight? i hit the gym almost everyday and i break a sweat no matter what. the only thing is should i be concentrating on cardio more and what should i do to get my cardio? treadmill? i also do want to gain some of my muscle back from back in my sophmore days so i can muscle the ski around. so waht do you guys think?

Well balanced diet.....Goes back to the food groups we learned in school. There are some new ideas on these food groups that you can look up on the web.

lf you are going to the gym check out some of the classes they offer. The Body Pump classes are great for cardio and hits all the major muscle groups. The Cenergy classes are great too.Combined Paloties(spell ck) and yoga.Great for flexabilty and core strenght.Just cause ya sweat does not mean you are really doing anything,it is just sweat.

yeah that is true. How much validity is there behind the whole HR thing? like keeping it at 130-150bpm and thats were you start to burn fat? i try to eat really good but some times i just slip up. thats my problem is that everyone around me has a poor diet to begin with.

don't worry about supplements or any of that....If you eat right the only supplement you really need is fish oil.

Clean up your eating....cut out processed foods.....alcohol...etc.

Eat lean meat, veggies, and fruits.

I eat Paleo (and I try to eat Zone as well but it is difficult with my schedule). I feel and perform a thousand times better with limited dairy and limited gluten.

oh....and keep a food diary. I slack at this big time but when I do remember it does make a big difference.

What kind of working out are you doing at the gym?

I just started going back to the gym too, looking to loose +- 25 Pounds from 225 body weight.

Here is what works for me, I go thru this cycle each year for the upcoming season.

I do cardio 3 days a day of rest then 2 days then a day of rest then start cycle over again, its important to not over execise your body thus it will retain weight/fat as security " state of alarm" , rest is important.

Cut everything you eat in half is what i do, obviously protein shake after the gym , lots of salad and meat, chicken etc...drink water, spare the weight loss crap supplements they make you angry/irritated and restless.

Then after I plateau my weight I slowly merge over to working weights again
worked well for me.

well when i workout i do weights i get the heaviest weight i can do that still allows me to complete 5 sets of 12 reps. i also do some core excercises like swiss ball jack knifes and plank and side plank. then i usually jump on the treadmill for about 30 minutes and keep my BPM at around 150 for at least 25minutes. my mom is telling me taht i should do that, keep a food diary, and i think ima start this weekend. yeah im going to cut the alchohol to zero come monday. the only reason i take super pump is because i can ussually get through my workout and i can get and stay alert at work even after the most strenious workout. waht do you guys think i should be concentrating on? i do want to get some definition plus strength training will only help me more. thanks! off to laughlin i go!

While fruit is a good source of vitamins and makes a great snack, you have to be conscious of the glycemic index. Certain foods will spike your insulin levels more than other and this is only desirable at certain times of the day ie. post workout.

for your HR question, for optimal fat burn your looking at 65-75% of your max heart rate for burning fat. You will burn more calories at a higher heart rate but less from fat where as at 65-75% mhr you burn less calories but more from fat. A brisk walk for 45mins on the treadmill is great for burning fat.

Alot of ppl try to cut out all their carbs, this is great if your doing a keto style diet(under 30g carbs daily) but if you are taking in less than 150g carbs a day your liver starts producing glycogen, this goes back to the glycemic index and food timing. This type of diet can also have negative adverse health effects.

You should be weight training 3 days a week along with cardio 3 days a week. Over training can be an issue if you are lifting too many weights for too long too frequently. Your cns(central nervous system) gets pissed and starts to shut down.

Try www.fitday.com, Its a great website to track your calories. diet is 90% of it when you are trying to lose weight. And its not a diet it is a lifestyle.

If you have any other questions, diet, training, feel free to pm me. I hold pt certificates and my fiance is a nutritionist.

Also talk to 95fx1, he has plenty of years in the fitness industry and can also steer you in the right direction.

hell yes.! i lost over 45lb last year trained real hard weights and cardio the first 14lb came off fairly easy. after that it was hard .i was much fitter but struggling to lose that extra weight . a friend of mine train's bodybuilders and strong men. he did me a bodybuilders cutting diet slightly modified .the weight just fell off .eating real clean taught me alot about food .now i loosely stick to the ideas of the diet as a LIFESTYLE choice

to much cardio will burn up lean muscle , for most men two days running three weights is good,

yeah im doing this one weight routine that is mainly a cardio with slight weight resistance. its a 12 week program it should be pretty good. my eating habits so far are holdng up good. i do have to confess i have eaten some girl scout cookies though....dam peanut butter is so good!

i'm a 250lb guy myself. one thing you prolly know, is everyone has a different body which means they need a different diet. one of the biggest things you need to stay away from is high fructose corn syrup. they never had fat 3 year olds until this stuff came out.

if you eat a lot of natural fruit you'll lose weight faster. chicken is also nature's super food. you don't need protien shakes or anything like that. most importantly, don't rush things. take your time. if you force yourself to change fast you'll have regrets and go back to your old ways. good luck!!!

yeah i only take the protein as like a light meal or after extreme workouts. i dont drink it too often. i know about the whole slowly thing. i cut sugary drinks and im trying to avoid going out to eat but i try to make good choices if i do. i know it will take time and i don't mind that but people are already seeing results...i don't see any but they notice a drastic change so i guess it is working.
