get rid of it.... along with about 50% of the rest of the ski... you will understand soon :)
lol what other stuff can i get ride off?
pictures would help greatly if someone has them!!!
Ya, two bolts and it's off. Where did you end up getting the ski from??? looking forward for another skier in the area!
This place
I phoned up yamaha themselves and found out which was the closest dealer and this is what they gave me!
for $7373.00 they well prep it (make sure it runs and tune it for me i think?) and ship it to the boarder where I will drive too and pick it up!
Once I put the order it well take the 3 days to get it there! Doesnt take much=P

I was thinking i would get footholds installed right away before even starting...
where could i get this done?

If I would do it again I would not buy a new ski.....

You can pick up a freestyle ski with all the goodies for $ 3800-4500

But if you still wanna go new you will need a lot of parts there is a forum here how to get started ..sticky I think ??

I don't know any place in canada that deals with standups. Cycle works in Edmonton can get parts in for sxr's but their pretty pricey and I don't think they would do footholds.

But seriously, do them yourself. Get a couple sheets of B-grade turf, a rivet gun and some fiberglass and go to town. Just search this sight, their are a few write ups.

oh and i forgot the price you got is that out the door ? Or how about shipping fees, dealer fees, taxes blah blah blah...??

Better make sure to ask 3 times !

nice...that is a SWEET gift. since its free you can start adding stuff you'll want right away...so 3 grand worth of parts = a 3 grand brand frickin new bad ass SJ. Just dive in and dont be scared of not being able to figure it out. im sure with a few pics there are tons of people on here that will get you going again no matter what stumps you. thats how i learned...trial by fire...wait till you get a couple hundred hours into wrenching on that thing and fire it up for the first time...that feeling is priceless.

the 08 SJ is great, the new bottom, and set back pump are worth getting one. as far as getting rid of stuff first thing I took off was the stock ride plate. they did not make a new one for the 08, they just used the old one and set it back, so it stuck out the back two inches. one drawback is the steering cable, it has less throw than the 07 and back SJ. the way that they shortened the hand pole on the 08 was by changing the piece where the turn plate mounts and there was less room for the older style cable. (If you are going to use an after market hand pole you will need to get an older cable.)

I put on a 500gph bilge pump about 2 days after I bought my 07'. My wife thought I was crazy for drilling a hole in my ski 2 days after I bought it... next I put on freestyle pump cone, cutback impeller from impros, aftermarket grate, and rode it until the end of the season. Dont get another rideplate- no need

Waiting until the warranty is up is not that bad of an idea.... it will give you a chance to learn how to ride the ski.... it will take you a little while to learn how to just ride it around good... you can still do a few little tricks to keep yourself entertained like subs and fountains... dont do the footholds or other major stuff until that warranty is up... it will def. void it... I bet adding a bilge would void it too... but I cant see how you could go a season without a bilge.... I never had to make a warranty claim, so I guess maybe i was lucky I never had to try to argue with them about the necessity of the bilge pump...

check out the "first mods you should do to your superjet" thread in the Tech FAQ section on this site to find out some things you can do to your ski once that warranty is expired.... 1 year warranty - right?

If I were buying a superjet new, the 08 would be the one I would get for the best mix of freestyle/freeride with the newer style hull.
