Hello i just picked up a '96 750SXI and lovin' it! took it to QSM motorsports in Banning, CA right after i got it. had a small leak at the front of the intake grate. then they re-did the electric box and clipped the spark plug wires back. had the gas tank emptied then started fresh with Castor 927 @ 44:1 w/ 91 oct. stock ngk BR8 plugs and a k&n on each carb. evidently it has an aftermarket impeller and i see the aftermarket ride plate. took it out for the first time on tuesday and loved how it ran and the Power.

heard now how in '98 the Pro came out. i remember seein' one on CL (craigslist los angeles) and it was $500 more than twice as much as mine. and when i called someone was already getting it.

anyone else enjoyin their pre-Pro SXI? '95 - '97 any good mods?

the one thing on my mind is somehow doin' a little handle on top of the handlebar pole. so i can get up out of the water a little easier. i'm 210lbs. it's a little hard to get on the ski when you're just holding on to the handlebar grips. with my left hand i searched for anywhere to grab onto the ski where i could pull myself up and on while givin throttle with the right. nothing. the thing is smooth everywhere. Do i bust out the dremmel and cut out a grip-hole in the handlebar pole, or superglue on some little handle? Or just some getting-up advice?

Then on another thought. went down to DAna Point Harbor last Sunday. Saw FOUR SXR's talked with every owner. they say it's just a matter of flushing the ski out afterward. there was this yellow hook-up right at the base of the handlebarpole. i don't think mine has that. so can i do Salt? what if after everytime i went into freshwater the next day?

that waterline hose from the head to the pipe is the best spot to put a flush kit on.
get rid of the smaller hose going to the over heat switch and run a new line to the rubber pee hole dircetly !!!
they always clog up and can make your ski run like chit.

there a good factory limited pipe for sale here too for $425 + shipping.
that would help a lot too !!!

i have a 98 750sxi pro too.
i really need a upgrade to a sxr800 or hydrospace soon !!! but keep on getting wet when i can find the time.

good luck

thanks for the replies Dana Point should be happening tomorrow. been reading about Pismo on Oct 23-25 tempted to go (no ski) just to watch. for the pipe, then there's the installing cost. love to find a used pipe. even if looks bad who care's. it's under the hood. i thought my next ski would be a sxi pro or sxr but after some reading maybe wait for a custom built light-weight hull with one of those dana 900+ cc engines.

for the getting-up handle, i feel like a noob now, but maybe i'll just make up a strap somehow around the pole to grip under like how bull riders hang on.

thanxs. should take one with the lid on too. there was a '95 sxi for sale on craigslist in palm desert that i almost got. i watched it for about 2 weeks while i was tryin to sell my 1998 KAwasaki KX500. then when i had all the cash i called, said i'd like to see it tomorrow, then when i was on the road called up and he said he sold it that morning. then this one came up later that week. caught it a couple hrs after it was posted, and was the first to see it. the guy had two SXRs and a superjet at his shop.

maybe some offshore riding tomorrow. this SXI hasn't seen any salt, but i ain't far from the beach, so sooner or later will have to try it.

i'm wonderin how a superjet would be different to ride. on the 'Net a 'Jet seems like the thing to have. but out in the field (or water) i've only seen Kawi's.

i'm not gonna change/spend on this ski. i'm tryin to sell a 06 KX250 that i got from Mike Metzger, all pro circuit, worth about $2,600. then after that try to add $1,000 and get a newer ski -then have two. $700 at the dentist for a crown two days ago didn't help the cause.

I like how it sounds now. a pipe is gonna make it louder i'm sure. Nice pics of your 750SX getting re-done. I don't mind the purple too much.

Hes going for his taser screaming "get out of the car". As to getting on the ski, Those 750s will sink way down in the back without tipping over. Practice sitting at the edge of the tray on your knees without the engine running. Once you get that down the rest is easy. If you need better thrust bore your nozzle or replace it with one from an older 750sx.
