Hi guys,

I am considering building a cylinder to have an alternative to my 727cc. I am on a tight budget, thus not able to jump on the billet cyl. bandwagon (although I would mind it at all ).

Not sure which way to go to get best power. Old saying says: no replacement for displacement, thus I leaned toward building a SS 845cc. I would use Max Worchat's sleeves, and SOME pistoons. My question is whether the well known CR500 pistons can be used or cannot (many say they can, and similar number of builders say they cannot)

The other option is building something around 780cc...

Thank you!

The biggest you can get out of a 61x cylinder is 790cc, that's why Dasa and XMetal have billet cylinders for the 865SS

Personally I would just save your money until you can get the real deal, I bought XMetals 771 package I think they want 1300 for it and I'm not sure what JetWorks charges but that's another great alternative, by the time you buy pistons and sleeves your already half way there, then you don't have to worry about port timing and the open up the transfer ports as well, I thought of the samething this summer and just paid somebody to do it

Hallo ,

At moment i rebuild a +6mm 90mm 62t engine.
But i think 90mm is to big.......no place for transfers and boostport. Now i like to weld outside of cylinder some material and then i mill the transfers and boostport.

yeah the cylinders are prone to cracking already so when you remove the material that is needed to go over lets say 771, there is a really weak cylinder. This is where Dasa came in and saved us all. 7 boost ports and a beefy casting back then changed everything. billet is just better yet. dasa atp ts ada it doesn't really matter what one you get to me. they all work to make a bigger 62t cased motor. If going bigger maybe look at using the dasa kawi motor. doing the big bore with a kawi stock stroke makes for a very big cheaper motor than the 900 62t motor.

I'm in contact with Chris most of the time, but wanted to talk about the "home made" 845cc as well. So what abput those CR500 pistons? Can we use them or not? I hear contradicting reports. The guys over here in a ski shop say it is possible to use them - they are building a motor like that right now for my buddy. He is using Max's sleeves, 62T cyl, CR500 pistons.
