760 motor in a blaster? Or build 701

IS this a good idea? Or should I just build the 62T I have? my ski is a 96, the compression is 149/150. do you think I can run a limited set up on it, and be ok? Or should I go ahead and tear it apart, have it bored out and new pistons in? I would assume the 760 limited set up would make more power then the 62T right? Is it a lot heavier?

The B2 came with a 760. It would be a good setup.

you need a lot of stuff to make the 760 work. in a blaster. the carbs are junk from a stock 760 as is the ele box and stator. you will need to buy a pipe (if you use the stock blaster pipe you are playing with yourself mite as well stick with the 701)when and if you get it in and all set up (A.M. carbs and pipe)it wont have the lowend the a good set up 701 has. great mid . was it worth it? nope. i love my 701!! (in a blaster anyway) IMO

and a cylinder head as the 760 has to differint size domes.

thats not true, ryan. i have a 760 in mine. the only thing you need to make a 760 is the jugs and head. you can use 61x or 62t electrics as long as there are matched 61x stator and flywheel w/61x cdi or 62t stator and flywheel w/62t cdi. your better off with the dual 38mm carbs from a 62t or you can use the bigger carbs from the 760 dual 44mm. you can use any exhaust you want. :brap:

As long as you either enlarge the holes in the manifold or install inserts into the cylinder. And possibly port-match.

WOW, I cannot for the life of me figure out why our 96 B2 760 / Dual OEM 44's ran flawlessly for 10 years. I just do not see how that is possible unless, no, couldn't be. No..........

What is REALLY crazy is, the stock blaster 2 has more bottom end than either the 61x or 62t blaster from the factory.

There is nothing wrong with the 44 OEM carbs on a stock or limited set up. If you go big bore, they have limitations because of the way the OEMs set them up for emissions.

And, the 760 elecs are fine and they have the stator on the flywheel cover instead of behind the flywheel which is MUCH better if you plan on adjusting timing.

He might not know the blaster one from the two's.. I think he just means is a bigger engine better.. He might not know much about the differance in ski's and engines...
Both ways you would be most likley correct.

From what I recall, the OEM 760 exhaust is a hell of a lot better than the 701 OEM exhaust.
That might account for better bottom end, partly.

I know what a blaster 2 is. I just picked up a b1 with a dual carb 701. I was just asking if the 760 would be a better drop in then building the 701. was what I was asking.

depends one how much you want to spend vs how much it will cost to get a 760 motor with 44's.

You can easily make the 701 have more power with porting, head, carbs and pipe. But the 760 motor complete with OEM carbs will make some really good power.
