Other 760 Cylinder Question

Finally got around to pulling this 760 apart.
Noticed the head had some rash on it but cylinders looked like a fresh hone and pistons looked good.
Then I noticed the inside port.
Looks as if it was damaged and then just tapered smooth by someone.?
What can be done?
Is this repairable, was planning on sending it out for porting and what not.
Thanks for the help.240038[/ATTACH]uploadfromtaptalk1390930230039.jpg

I am by no means an expert on porting but that damage looks to me like it would exceed the area of normal porting and should probably be re-sleeved first. I'm also sure there are plenty of guys running cylinders damaged much worse than that. I may be wrong but I believe the top of the port is far more critical than the bottom.?.?.?

Worst case scenario, budget another $200 to have it re-sleeved and send it out for porting. It's probably runnable for a backup ski or just to finish off a season but if you are going to invest in porting, I can't imagine a builder would be willing to put their work on top of a damaged cylinder.

that bottom of the transfer port means nothing. that tiny chew mark will affect nothing. i would run that all day long on my own motor and not think twice about it. somebody may want to get extra money out of you to replace the sleeve, but it doesnt need to be replaced. chamfer the edge as usual, so it dont snag a ring.
