My 750sx won't start when its cold unless I put a little gas down into the carb. What is usually the cause of this? Once I put the gas in, it will start fine as long as I don't let it sit too long. As usual, any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

All of my kawasaki 750s have been hard to start.

I just add a primer and save the starter's life.

the reason is likely a check valve in the tank, or in the carb, that leaks down as it ages, and doesnt hold pressure on the carb fuel feed line.

that ski just needs to turn over for 15 seconds on full choke, it will fire rite up, primers do help though

That's not bad for the starter? Just hold the start button down for that long?

How hard is it to add a primer?

its not hard to put a primer in, but you need to remove the e box, the starters are very hardy on those skis, kawi, yamaha, polaris back then used basically the same starter, very very close, your fine cranking it like that, my x2 takes a good 10-15 seconds cranking to get it to go

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
Cranking your motor over for 15 seconds with no lubrication is not good for it .Not to mention it will drain your battery down before you even go riding

I had a 750 sx and put primers in and it starts in 2 seconds every time .
Don't let anyone tell you to keep cranking it and it will start .
It's bad for your motor,starter,and battery .

put primers in and your problems will be gone .Your motor will always start, your battery will always be fully charged when you finally ride and your starter won't be over worked .

I forgot!
yup what they said, my 750 was the same, however my superjet 9 times out of ten i can walk up to it at any given time tap the little green button without the primer and BRAAAAP BRAPP BRAP BRAP. I LOVE SUPERJETS!!!

You dont have to pull your electrical box either.

I had the primer under the rubber strap for the fuel tank on my 750sx.

of course you had to have the hood off to prime it, BUT, first start of the day, thats a good idea anyway.

$20 kit or maybe slightly more, and easier starts.

ive never had a problem, its not like there is no lube anyways, you put a fresh motor back together (top end) dry and crank it,.......just my .02
