So I get back from a summer spent working in Maine (god damn its amazing up there) and eagerly awaiting my ski I run out on the lake to use it. My setup is somewhat run of the mill. I like the idea of running twin fuel circuits.... so I run twin external pumps with separate lines. Long story somewhat short, one of the keihin fuel pumps die out on the lake. Ski bogs down a bit but I figure I just splashed water into my OP vortex arrestors, happens all the time. 2 minutes later my motor locks up. Puts a big deep gouge down the cylinder.
I originally planned on doing a big bore setup from teamscream, but that was way to expensive this semester for me so I ended up just doing a 1mm bore and more or less copied the new sport port design for porting. Spent a lot of time cleaning/matching the transfers and boost ports, knifing the septums. My cases have already been mildly ported so I left them be. I also filled in the 38 manifold crossover
Anyway got the ski on the water today and started breakin it in. 32;1 and lots of throttle blippin. I'm having to run about 1/16th of a turn out on the lows to get even somewhat acceptable throttle responce. I need to drop down one jet size (perhaps 2? Im at 75 now) Either way I can deffinately feel the added power of the porting. I cant wait to get this break in period over. 1 gallon down, 9 to go.
As for pics, I couldnt seem to find a bit or buffer that would polish up the exhaust cleaner than this, though the flash makes it appear worse than it actually is. Smooth to touch with no palpable grooves or notches.
