Freestyle 701 Motor Mods?

I am working on a 61x/62t 701 motor for flatwater freestyle. I need some pointers on porting, boresize, pistons, anything i need to know to get that lower end punch i need. any help is appreciated Thanks, Zach

Big bore sleeves in the 61x cylinder with freestyle porting, Factory B-pipe, lightweight flywheel or total loss ignition, mag pump with hooker impeller, a good set of aftermarket carbs. Thats a killer setup in my opinion but I dont know what your budget is or what parts you have already

x2, but i'd go with a total loss setup over a lightweight flywheel/enhancer combo.

thanks for replies, as of right now i have a stock sn superjet with the 6m6 in it, 15/18 solas, d cut ride plate, rrp pole with blowsion steering + fat bars. working on a trim system as we speak. the part i need help with is the motor i know im gonna go with a 61x/62t set up but im contemplating a 760? i realize that its a waverunner motor but ive been told that u cant beat displacement. and flatwater flips arent cheap. idk seems like an easier platform to start with and should be easy to break the 800cc mark. pretty new to the motorwork side so im hoping i can take my cylinders to my local machine shop and tell them freestyle porting larger bore and he will know exactly what im talking about lol. budget isnt small but its not big enough of course. any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Zach

Don't just have a local machine shop do your porting!! You need a 2 stroke engine builder doing that work and preferably one that's very experienced and knowledgable in PWCs for freestyle/freeride setups. Engines aren't that expensive to ship and it's worth the extra time and effort... You will get a much better end result

Definetley ditch that 650 motor, and as far as flatwater backflips go I would get that out of your head as long as you are rockin a SN hull. Dont get me wrong theres nothing wrong with a SN, ive had 2 of them and still have 1, but I never see that happening with mine, now off of a V boat wake yes, or in the surf. I guess anything is possible though. If that is what your going for you might want to start looking at A/M hulls, I think you will just be spinning your wheels trying to flatwater backflip a sn. And dont assume that the 760 is a better more powerful motor than a 701 just b/c of the size, they have different powerbands, the 701 has more bottom end where as the 760 pulls more all the way through. And if your talking about backflips you are going to want more bottom end.

Flatwater backflips are a whole ' nother league of "not cheap" than a 760 WR motor. I'd concentrate on other things.

For sure you need to stick with a 61x cylinder...
and As i just learned, to build a backflip ski, your going to drop like 10s of thousands easily....
Cheap.. and backflip.. dont go together...

But hey if you have an open wallet, the "cheapest" way to go would be a gen1 BOB hull, with a ported big bore 61x, b pipe, head, total loss, mag pump.
Notice quotations..... That stuff adds up quite fast.
