Any idea why a 6m6 flywheel cover won't line up with my 62t cases? I thought all Yamaha OEM flywheel covers are the same? True...not true?

the bottom two bolt holes. One is off center about an 1/16" and the other is way off???? I was just mocking it up and couldn't get it to fit. Both pegs are lining up fine, the bendix is good too. I'll play with it and see what's up. kinda strange though.

It's on my SS Dasa engine. I looked at the Dasa website since they sell billet FW covers. They sell a FW cover for both 701 and 760 engines. I've got 62t cases, but did the 64x setups have a different FW cover? I just assumed all OEM FW covers were the same.

They should all be the same bolt pattern.
You're doing it wrong.

That's always a big possibility, but not today. I got my engine about two weeks ago and UPS had beat the package pretty good. I took lots of pic of the package condition before opening and of all the hardware inside. I bought a short block with carbs/intake. The pulse nipple was busted off but that was the worst thing I could pick up on until this.....

I took a step back to really look at the cases and see why the flywheel cover wouldn't fit. All the bolt holes liine up except for the one on bottom between the driveshaft and the bendix. It looks as though the cases were bent about a 1/16-1/8" upward. I can't get an OEM (or anyother FW cover) to fit this bolt hole. There might be a slight, hairline crack on the cases below the crank in what would be the area under the stator. I can't see anything that goes through and through, and it's very slight but since the FW cover problem I went over it with a fine comb. I'm not sure if it's a paint defect or truely a crack. I'll have my riding buds eyeball it too.

You guys think if UPS dropped the package it could bend this area without breaking it? I have $5K insurance on it so i'm thinking of going to them. Bad phone pics, but you can see what's what.

It's insured for $5k and I contacted UPS today to file a claim. An adjuster is supposed to come Monday and inspect. I'm not willing to fire it up and find out how much that crack can handle. Additionally, I'm not willing to try and put a patch on something that should be factory fresh without blemish that UPS caused by beating the package to haites and back. I'll try and post a pic of the package condition to show how rough they were.

Yeah...... I would be all over UPS on that one.... they definitely abused the hell out of that package!!!!

You'd think with a value of $5k for the package, they would be a bit more careful.:firedevil::firedevil::firedevil::firedevil::firedevil::firedevil:
