Drilling the waterbox is to increase airflow. It's done to allow the air to flow better in the stock 650 waterbox while running the larger 750 motor. This has nothing to do with weight.

The only thing you can do about the weight is to throw away the heavy stock rubber mounts, replacing them with something lighter, and buying an aluminum waterbox. The stocker is stainless so it is much heavier.

Drilling is not done for saving weight, and will not save anything worth wild.

I've seen someone take a couple inches out of the middle and weld it back together. Doing that coupled with removing the rubber mounts would add up to a couple pounds. Time/money is probably better spent elsewhere on a 650 though

i drilled it took me about 1 hour total with the r+i and drilling,so i consider that a free mod, supposed to help with flow and yea dropping some weight prolly not gonna happen,i will try and get rid of the heavy rubber mounts see if that helps
