Hey guys, i keep reeding that the 650 steering bolts into the 550 pole for a shorter overall length than even the watcon steer plate.

But... i can't find any posts on it.

Id love to see pome pictures/feedback before I burn a day trying it.

From memory the bushing are different sizes, if I remember right you have to change out the center shaft to make it work, regrettable most of the threads that had pics were using photobucket for pic hosting and those pics are long gone now.

I thought it was the whole sub plate etc, and yah, the loss of the original pwc today was a blow as well

You need the complete 650sx turn plate, bushings and pivot bolt to make it work on a 550 hull. Watcon either used to or still sells a shortened turn plate for the 550 that worked with the stock 550 pivot bolt.

I hate to say this , I realize you are selling stuff here but it looks like the 750 plate will work just fine if you drill and tap one hole to relocate the steering cable ball.

Got it

So the watcon plate i have is plug and play, the 750 works and my be cheaper, but requires fiddling with it.
I see a clear value statement here that John is missing. The part he makes is plug and play, no guess work required

I had read, possibily incorrectly that a 650 plate stearing would be shorter, but i was under the impression you would use the whole 650 assembly including the part that comes out of the pole, and that it would bolt into a 550 pole potentially. so you would have the 650 steering stop, stem bushings etc.
At this point ive collected all the crap like an idiot and Johns video is somewhat helpful to illustrate the options and differences.

Yeah as you now know the 550 sub plate and 650SX sub plate are not even in the same hemisphere as far as plug and play same with the 750SX sub plate, three totally different designs.
