SX/SXi/SXi Pro 650 electronics (in an sxi pro)

Who's running this setup? I recently bought a non-runnning sxi with 6fiddy electronics and an effed flywheel from the doofus who had it before me due to a bad stator. He ended getting a new stator on there, but I just threw on a 650 flywheel that I had lying around and it started right up!

So is that a 650 stator in there as well (just in case I ever have to replace it)?

I've been on PWCT for a while for all my "vintage kawasakis", but they don't have nearly as much 750 sxi info!

Thanks.

Welcome to the X. 17 views and no replies? Come on - somebody out there has to know. I read that this was the hot setup on Group K for the 750's...

Im running a 650 stator and flywheel.

If its a 650 flywheel than it more than likely is a 650 stator, what color wires are coming off the stator? I'd post a picture so others can chime in and be sure.

Also go ahead and advance the timing a little if you can. (turn the stator no more than 5mm counter-clockwise)

I'm back at school for the week, but if I remember correctly, there were two yellows, a black with red (?) stripe, and a black. Plugged straight into the 650 e-box, which looked stock sans the Dale's Bad Attitude CDI.

How would I know where stock timing is between the big pin block and 650 stator? Looked like someone had scratched some marks in there, but it was set right about in the middle of the adjustment slots, and I didn't mess with it before I threw the cover back over it to start it up.

Otherwise, I got it running well today with new fuel line. Sounds great with the Westcoast pipe and Jetcraft Turbomuff on the stand. I can't wait to get it on the water, to feel the difference between the 650/440 conversion.

Hate to bag on the dales cdi, but it has no built in retard function so be carefull, you can static set the timing with a dial indicator per their website.

There should be a couple bosses that the stator sits in on the case and on the top left there is a mark in the casting that is the exact same as the cases on a 650 motor. This is where you would line up the marking on the stator and case for stock timing. Hopefully that made sense? wish i had pictures to show ya...

Dont get too wild with timing, its easy to burn a piston with pump gas. Mark the flywheel and verify timing with a light. Start at 16 degrees until the carbs are tuned for full speed. Dales ignition has little retard and 750s have a tight squish so you cant use the numbers that are commonly thrown around here.

I didn't inspect as thoroughly as I should have when I threw the flywheel on there. I was more interested to see if I even had spark, and it started right up. I'll pull the cover and look around, but thanks for the info.

:ugh2:

Sounds good, I'll give her a shot when I'm back to where I want to be (with ski's and not at school).
