550sx defoam/re-turf build

So i was tearing off the old turf on my ski i got last year

when i found this.

I asked what i should do and after advice and research i decided to cut it open and defoam it, it was mentioned i should make a build thread so here it is.

I decided not to do foot holds being its just a 550 and id rather not put that much extra time into it and just ride the piss out of it instead. So i cleaned it up the best i could and made my incision.

After that i pried the piece up and took out all the wet foam which was all soaked beneath the opening all the way down to the bottom of the hull. The upper sides are completely dry and so is the back, I used a wire cup brush attached to a drill which made the job soooo soooo easy it just pulverizes the foam.

Im thinking of leaving it how it is and not take out anymore foam since its all dry, putting some bars or little sticks of wood in the hull to support the piece i cut out, then pouring foam in and let it expand to fill up the cavity while having something heavy on top to let the foam compress. then patch the piece back in and lay a big piece of glass across the whole tray.

Here is the piece i cut out you can see how thin it is and the crack in it. the crack goes all the way to the corner of the piece, its no wonder it cracked being as thin as it is. I haven't decided whether i should ground out the crack and patch it then lay some glass on the whole back side of it to thicken it up, or do like i said earlier but instead of patching the piece i cut out, take it out once the foam has hardened then lay all new glass. patch and use the existing piece or lay new glass?

All that's left is to order the materials i need. would a half gallon of epoxy be enough or should i just get a gallon? I was going to order some 1708 biaxial for the tray and then some 6oz S cloth for everything else as well as some cabosil to smooth everything out and to fill in the grooves on the side for when its time to turf. Let me know what you guys think. Ill update soon once things arrive.
