On the 550. I see there is a plug on the end of the stator wires. Also a plug in the electrical box. Do you cut these off and use new connectors or what?

nope, follow the wires into the ebox and they should go into a big plastic plug. You will need to unplug them from this plastic pieces by pushing the tab that holds them in with a sharp object. Make sure to draw a diagram showing where each color wire goes in the plastic plug. Once you have them all out pull them throught the rubber gromit one at a time. It helps to used wd-40 on them to make them slip through.
