300/440/550 550 acting funny

when i first got my 550 it was fairly fast, but lately it seems to be acting strange. it takes time to start up and i have to give it some throttle to get it to finally start, then it putters until it finally starts to run smoothly. if i let it idle it will eventually quit on its own (good because there is no lanyard), then the whole process starts over. once it is running it rides ok but still lacking a little power. anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like the needle and seat in the carb is bad,rebuild the carb and change the needle and seat

You Can Try Dennis Kirk. I just rebuilt my whole carb, needle & seat ($15) and genuine Mikuni rebuild kit($28.99) + shipping. Made a world of difference. Put a big smile on my face again.:burnout:

ok ill try that, small price to pay, also put in plugs and that helped a bit
