550-650 Conversion

I have had an old 87 js550 hull in the back yard for over a year now and I am tired of looking at it. I am wanting to put a 650sx motor in there. Im not trying to break the bank. What all do I have to have to make it work? Is it possible to put it together for under 500? I just want something to toy around on, and to let my friends ride. I am wanting to throw a pipe on there, and a bigger carb. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for all your help!

You might get it done for $500 if everything goes right. I used a jre conversion plate on mine, rhaas are nice too and cheaper. I had issues with my 550 electronics so we used everything out of the 650 when we did it. You can mod the stock pipe for free and it'll run as good as pretty much any pipe you can fit in a 550 hull.

John zigler has a great conversion plate (Watcon/RCJS), it's a great and fun ski once completed. You will need a 19* or 20* impeller for sure.

I don't see why you couldn't do it for $500 or less...

Your next biggest expense will be an impeller. They are hard to find used.
