46mm Mikuni Same Jetting as 44mm?

Is it plausible that a 46mm Mikuni would take the exact same jetting as a 44mm on the same boat? I just upgraded my carb and it would not run on recommended jetting, matched the same as the old 44 and it fired right up.

My old 44 was so corroded up I couldn't even get it open to rebuild it so i bought the 46.

It wasn't the jetting then. With it being so close like that, it should have fired anyway, especially if you primed it.

The larger the carb, the fatter the jetting will be (all other things equal)

I expected a larger throat carb to have slightly less signal and thus require slightly larger jets. What about pop-off? Same or higher as well?

Lower - very generally speaking and all other things being equal.
