300/440/550 440 prop aerating

So i just got a 440 with 550 motor. I went took it for a ride today and it feels like the prop is aerating pretty bad. What do I do to fix this problem?

the old 440s didn't have a stainless sleeve in the pump. if you got one of these replace it.

if it is a sleeved pump check the sleeve and prop for wear or damage. if they are good reseal the pump were it contacts the hull.

I had the same set-up and same problem. I'm sure your impeller pump clearance is more than it should be due to wear.
