SXR 2009 SXR 800 >Need Help >>No spark

I have a friend that has a lightly used 800 SXR. Always in fresh water and has maybe a dozen rides on it since new. He put it away fall of 2014 and did not ride at all last year. He decided to sell the ski to me and he went to start it and there was no spark. He replaced the battery, spark plug coil, and the CDI and still no spark. He gave up and I am going to pick it up this weekend. Any thoughts are where to start? Thanks

I took the electrical box out of my 2008 SXR and put it in the 2009 and we got spark. Now to figure out what is bad in the electrical box. The Viper CDI is brand new so I would assume that's fine. When my friend changed the coil he bought a NGK coil off of e-bay that he stated he called the shop and said it would work. The other thing in the box is the Voltage regulator that was never changed. I am leaning to order a OEM coil from Kawasaki. Does the Voltage regulators go bad and would that prevent the ski from getting spark? Thanks

id be willing to bet that the issue is either with the coil or cdi. Both were replaced with far inferior off-brand parts that have no solid reputation at all. Get out a multimeter and test them
