pics attached of piston wash. motor had a very lean wash when i bought it, i have now ran at least 2 tanks through it. 40:1 110 mix
ported 62t cases, 61x cylinder
33cc domes (190psi) .050 squish
46mm 140m 120l 2.0ns 95g spring (25psi pop) currently at 2.75 out on the hs
2* static advance & msd enhancer
coffman sizzler pipe

I know i need to go up in jet sizes, based on my piston wash would it be safe to say a 145m would be enough? The ski hit relatively hard, if i change the hs turns out any it boggs and if i go in any it hesitates. wot runs it makes a gargling noise which i assume is a lean condition.

I want this to be ready for wavedaze in two weeks so any help is very much appreciated

you were dead on i believe. i ended up at 1.5 out with the 150 and it hits like a ton of bricks... idk why it didnt do that the first time i had a 150 in there, guess it was my pop off. Im gonna give my piston wash a look shortly, anyway thanks alot crab

I thought that since you were way out on the high adjuster trying to compensate for lean midrange. The main jet controls both but is only adjustable for full throttle, and one full step isn't that much IMO.:Banane09: Both my boats run less than one turn on the high jet.

Don't guess tune with a tachometer!

Mark44

dont have $$$ for one of those $200 tachs. If i go out beyond 1.5 it sputters, 1.5 is right where the sputtering stopped so i turned it just a hair more out to richen it a bit and it freekin rips so i guess thats the best i can ask for without a tach

I usually think of it as how much money and time do I have in this motor and can I afford not to tune it properly. The tool you will have for a
long long time its well worth the money compared to motor prices. You can even rent it out to friends for beer.

Don't mean to bust balls just stating IMO.

no problem mark, I appreciate any advice i can get, im new to this aspect of mechanics. i will look into getting a tach other than my tiny tach. someone at wavedaze may have one i could borrow to check. Would you agree though that the point where the rich bog goes away is pretty close to being right on? i just looked at the piston wash, it really hasnt changed much but there is now a build up on the pistons along with a oily coat (previously dry and no buildup, just black) but i only ran like a 1/4 tank through it so i dont think it would change that rapidly especially considering i couldnt clean the wash off with carb cleaner when i bought the motor

I have one and could help you, but you need dead flat glass to do that kind of tuning, and the oceanfront is not it!

Look me up and we'll talk.
