300/440/550 1993 sx hull (fiberglass or SMC)

I have a 93 sx i was wondering if the hull is made of SMC or Fiberglass if u know drop me a reply

yup. the SXi pro, was hand laid fiberglass on the lower hull. all the older SX's were all SMC.

I have a question. I ride a '93 sx 750, and I am having this guy install foothold for me. I just don't have the time to do it myself.

What does SMC stand for, what is the difference between SMC and fiber glass, and which is better and why??

SMC is short for sheet molded compound,it comes in a sheet and is heated and a mold is pressed through it to form a shape.Fiberglass is spun glsaa fibers woven into a cloth and wetted out with resin against a mold to form a shape.They both work fine the fiberglass techniques are more cost effective for small runs or for larger vessels as there are size limatitions on what you can produce with smc.
