So go figure i let a friend ride my ski when it was low on gas..He seemed to ignore me when i said its almost out of gas.. Anyway long story short he had to get towed in he ran it out of gas in the ocean. Then on the way off the beach he dumps the skis out the back of the truck on to the ground...Frustrated as i was i bring my poop back with little damage to the hull thinking my ski just needs gas so i can flush the salt water out an get back to lake riding..So i mixed up a gallon of non ethanol 93 threw it in and tried to get it going again...Nothing..would sputter just a little thats it!! Spins over great,has great spark,Seems to be getting fuel,has 185psi both cylinders,checked flywheel key and its good to, Im lost! I even cleaned the carb thinking it sucked up trash..It was spotless..fuel pick ups good also! WTF this thing is a very low hour ski with a mariner head, .020 head gasket, mariner pipe,stock water box, and stock carb..It ran soo good till this happened..Lesson learned though, keep your friends off your stuff! Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated!

Is there water in the gas tank/fuel lines? Checked the engine for water intrusion?

I have a crankcase block off installed and its got a stock arrester in it which would be the only place where i could get a water breach as far as i know..My friend said it shut off suddlenly which is unusual when they just run out of gas there usualy sluggish an die slowly..He was in calm water( inlet) to pretty much like a lake an my ski has a great hood seal..So unless the gas station has bad gas (which it very well could be) with water in it all the ocean ride gas is been ran threw the ski...

I can get it to hit for like 2 seconds..More like a sputter though.. choke,gas in carb,either,gas in spark plug hole,wide open, nothin really makes a difference! No ryme or reason why it hits randomly it really blowing my mind.. Once i had a air filter come apart an fall into the reeds on another 650sx it wouldnt run right but it would still start. Could reeds be the problem?

Put another gallon in the tank. Might be a crack/hole in the pick up sucking up air instead of gas.

Well had the flywheel off and put it back on.. Got it all back together now no spark! Tore back down flywheel key still intact.. Do stators flake out a little before they go out? Before i checked the key i had spark... Cant win for loosing

Well tested stator and swapper my 4 wire stator with a 1987 x2 5 wire stator because i didnt wanna spend 220 on a new one so i made that one work by grounding the 5th wire to the ebox.. NEW STATOR AND SHE FIRED RIGHT UP!!!
