1984 kawasaki js 550

A local guy has a 1984 kawasaki js 550 for sale. the ski looks and runs good. Looks to be all stock. He is looking for $650 without a trailer.

Is this a good deal? I am a newbie, having purchased my first ski, a 1986 JS 300 this summer. Me and the kids love the ski but it is clearly underpowered for me (6'1" 180 lbs).

I would appreciate any advice and comments.

make sure the compression is even in both cylinders and be ready to purchase a Mikuni Super BN carburator from ebay($60). The carburators on those older 550's are a pain in the ass......they either work perfect or are horrible! You may get lucky!
$650 is a good price because I have sold about 6 kawasaki 550's this summer for $700-$1400 range!

Im the same size as you and 550's are fun but still a little slow out of the hole! when going topend speed they fly pretty good!

I agree with flake. You can pick up an older running 550 for significantly less money if you can wait. Or you can look around for a square nose super jet for very close to that price and have a much better ski.

I have sold about six 1990-1993 superjet 650's for $1400 at the least!
