do you think it would be fine if i ran 100 octane LL ave gas in my sxr with,205psi,advent ign,dry pipe........ for practice? i will normal race gas for the race but it would be nice to save a lil $ WITH THE AVE GAS..LL stands for low light?is that a aditive to keep the gas from freezing?will that effect the motor.i run redline oil now but will be swicting over to amsoil!

Stands for Low Lead.
I am not sure, but I think AvGas doesn't have the same energy content and will also require different jetting. I have used it before, and it worked well enough.

thanks.so for just practice or just messing around i wont have any problems with blowing up the motor?i now i wont get the power out of it but thats fine

you should be fine although i would check the octane of the 100LL against what you are running for race fuel to amke sure there isn't a drastic difference in the octane of the two fuels

You have to be carful when using AV gas. It is highly oxignated for flying obsiviously. So as Matt E stated you have to jet differant because of how lean it runs. And take it from me if you are going to use it get a differant fuel tank for it. I got caught at a race after I ran leaded gas for practice as well, and the lead left a residue in the tank and I was accused of cheating. So just draining the tank doesn't always work. Just my 2 cents.

I have talked to a few pilots that say the 100 LL isn't that great of fuel. That is kind of dirty and fouls the plugs in planes. I don't know much about it; just thats what a few guys have told me. I wouldn't think they would sell it at airports if it was that bad though. I checked the other day at my little airstrip and it was $2.60 a gallon if I remember right.

You will have no problems running AV gas with your set up. Our group has ran thousands thousands of gallons with no problems. You won't get as much power, but for practice and messing around, no issues.
I have never had a problem, with fuel testing at WF. I usually just drain the tank empty and then run the legal gas.
I hipe this helps

I ran 100LL Av gas in my 800 with 215-220psi with ignition advance plate for years. My ski ran better on that stuff than sunoco 110, or any VP fuels I ran at the races. I would just run a few tanks of race unleaded fuel before the race to clean it out, and i never had any problems through fuel checks. Never had to rejet between unleaded sunoco or avgas...

My motors lasted forever and ran great... i say go for it.

I used to run AV, but I was only running 185 compression at the time. I'm always pretty conservative and make sure I'm absolutely running enough octane for my engine setup.

My compression is about 210 now with advent ignition (aggressive curve) etc, and I practice with 110 leaded Sunoco and race with 104 unleaded Sunoco. Maybe I'm wasting money, but I have a lot of money into the ski. I won't even consider running lower than 104.

Perhaps you can mix the 110 you get half and half with AV for some cost savings and a little insurance for you engine?
