Super Jet 08+ Ride Plate Question

Trim down for what!?!?!?

Hey guys, Just wondering on what everyone with 08+ sj's are running for ride plates. The Stocker sticks out like 2 inches past the hull. Which makes it rail crazy hard but would like a "looser" feel. Just seeing what everyone was running. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was running the stock plate cut flush to the hull. It stills rails just as hard and is a small bit looser. Racing around buoys, not once did I ever have a issue staying hooked with that plate. Today I just bolted on a Worx WR314, i'll let you know in a week what I think about it, it does look very promising.

Flush cut stocker here too. Have a d cut plate as well but it sinks the tail too much and keeps the tubbies out if the water.

Tubbies and quicker steering will help overcome the 08+ hulls' tendency to stay hooked.

I cut mine flush as well and honestly dont miss that bit at all. Still cuts just as hard when I want to but also got that little bit of playfulness I was looking for. I would encourage it.

I flush cut mine, at 205 pounds it rode pretty good now I'm 165 and can't seem to lay enough weight forward to keep from porpoising in the chop, in smooth water its cherry but we don't get that here often.... I took the factory tilt out of the nozzle and that helped a bit but I'm considering going back to a longer plate now. Im really curious about that 314 plate though do you have a pic of it bolted up?

Thanks guys I think ima just cut the stocker flush, What did you guys use to cut it? And then did you just sand the rough edges from the cut? Curb Let us know what you think of the plate. Is it flush with the hull like as if you cut the stock one? Or how far do it extend?

I will get pics asap. The d cut isn't as aggressive as a typical d cut you're used to seeing. the fins protrude about 1" rear of the hull where the d cut reaches only 1" forward of the hull. The depth of the plate (how deep it sits in the water is slightly more than the stock plate, but does have a 3" wide area that is slightly higher. It really, in theory looks like an effective plate for surf. The d cut isn't overly aggressive while the fins are large to track the waves. I was impressed with the plate and can see where the money is well spent rather than d cutting the stock plate. However this is all theory until I get a chance to really thrash this ski in the surf now.

Blowsion has the best price and in stock, but if you're not willing to spend 216 to experiment, its always a win win situation to flush cut the stock plate like I think it should be .. the stock plate after all is a SN plate yamaha bolted up. Thats why it looks funny bolted to this hull. Bin parts that are already tooled to bolt up to a dying model. I cut mine with a hacksaw and smoothed it on a bench grinder.

Wow that Plate does look good! I think ima just hacksaw the stocker. Curb Give us a ride report after you test that sucker out!! Thanks for the pics!!

I recently cut my stock plate 1'' shorter (about an inch shy of flush) and then D cut it. What a difference. I weigh 150 and have no problems porpoising and it handles nicer than i expected. I can still rail turns like before but now i can break the tail loose if i want. I used a high speed cut off wheel on a die grinder and grinded smooth afterward. My first attempt was with a sawzall and a brand new blade. I felt like it would have taken and hour!
